As an female internal sex organ, the ovary has. some endocrine functions. And moreover, several benign and malignant neoplasms are originated from ovary with high frequency rates. Especially benign ovarian neoplasms comprised 24.5% of the benign female neolpasm and rinked second most common benign tumors of female.
However, because of there are high variabilities and variations among the ovarian neoplasms, there are few confirmed theories on the histogenesis and pathogenesis on them.
Although the epidermiologic studies might be set up the classification and to research the histogenesis and pathogenesis, there are only a few epidermiologic studies on the ovarian tumors in Korea. In order to study the epidermiologic nature of the ovarian neoplasm in Korea, the authors collected 118 ovarian neoplasm cases from Dept. of Clinical Pathology, Sung Sim Hospital, Chung-Ang University, School of Medicine and made statistical study. The follows are ensued.
